The SVBONY SV555 is a compact 54mm f/4.5 Petzval astrograph designed primarily for wide-field astrophotography. Its 3-group, 5-element optical system incorporates ED glass and is designed to provide a corrected imaging field without requiring a separate field flattener.

What is the SV555 designed for?
The SV555 is aimed at photographers wanting a small, fast imaging optic for larger deep-sky targets and wide star fields. The Petzval configuration is intended to provide a flatter corrected field across larger sensors while avoiding the separate reducer/flattener and back-focus spacing normally required by many conventional refractors.
Full-frame astrophotography
SVBONY specifies a 44mm imaging field, making the SV555 suitable for full-frame as well as APS-C and smaller astronomy-camera sensors. Actual corner-star performance will also depend on camera tilt, focus and the mechanical alignment of the imaging train.
Variable aperture: f/4.5 to f/22
Unlike a conventional fixed-aperture astronomical refractor, the SV555 includes an adjustable aperture mechanism. For deep-sky work its fastest f/4.5 setting maximises light gathering, while the aperture can be stopped down for other photographic applications.
Camera rotation and focusing
A lockable 360° rotator helps frame astronomical targets without rotating the entire telescope. The design also provides support for electronic focusing, allowing the SV555 to be incorporated into an automated imaging setup where compatible focusing hardware is used.
