Player One Poseidon-M Pro (IMX571) — APS-C Monochrome Cooled Astronomy Camera
The Player One Poseidon-M Pro is an advanced APS-C mono cooled astrophotography camera based on the Sony IMX571. It delivers 26 MP resolution (6252×4176), 3.76 μm pixels, a massive 71.7 ke- full-well, native 16-bit ADC, non-amp-glow performance, and two-stage TEC cooling for exceptionally clean deep-sky data.

Key Features
- Sony IMX571 mono APS-C (23.5 × 15.7 mm), 26 MP, 3.76 μm pixels
- Huge full-well: 71.7 ke- (≈1.4× IMX571 “basic”) for excellent star colour & dynamic range
- Native 16-bit ADC (65,536 levels) for smooth gradients & robust stretching
- Non-amp-glow sensor for cleaner calibration and darker backgrounds
- Two-stage TEC cooling with typical ΔT ≈ 40 °C below ambient
- 512 MB DDR3 buffer stabilises downloads and reduces dropped frames
- Dual sampling modes: Normal (higher FPS) & Low-Noise (lower RN / higher DR)
- Rear 4-point tilt plate for fast, precise sensor orthogonality
- USB-C data + 12 V DC power, adjustable fan & front dew heater

Product Overview

Refined, RASA-Friendly Design
The octagonal chassis with rounded chamfers combines rigidity with compact handling. A round front plate minimises diffraction on RASA systems, while the micro-textured red/black finish provides a durable, premium feel.

IMX571 Sensor & Specs
Sensor: Sony IMX571, APS-C mono, 26 MP • Pixels: 3.76 μm • Diagonal: 28.3 mm • Resolution: 6252 × 4176

Rear 4-Point Sensor Tilt Plate
Quick, predictable tilt correction with a rear-adjust 4-point plate. A high-density light seal prevents side leakage.

Deep Cooling & Anti-Dew
Two-stage TEC with an improved heat path achieves a typical ΔT ≈ 40 °C below ambient. ASCOM control exposes target temperature, fan speed (default 70%), and dew-heater power.

512 MB DDR3 Buffer
On-camera buffering stabilises data transfer, reduces dropped frames, and maintains low RN—even on USB 2.0.

APS-C Format
Large 23.5 × 15.7 mm imaging area for generous fields with refractors and fast astrographs.

Native 16-bit ADC
65,536 levels provide smoother gradients and more robust non-linear stretching than 12/14-bit sensors—ideal for narrowband and faint structures.

Non-Amp-Glow
Dark frames are clean and repeatable, simplifying calibration. Example: 300 s, gain 0, offset 10, −20 °C (STF auto-stretch in PixInsight).

Connectivity & Control
Ports: dual USB-C data + 12 V DC (5.5 × 2.1 mm) power. Main USB-C supports USB 3.0 (up to ~15 FPS in RAW8). For maximum capture speed, record to a fast SSD.

Typical USB Cabling

ASCOM Cooling & Heater Control
- Standard ΔT: ~40 °C (±2 °C) at ambient 30 °C, fan 100%, heater 10%
- Recommended: ~35 °C below ambient, fan 70%, heater 10% (≈40–60% power)

Protection
Built-in over-voltage and over-current protection safeguards the camera and connected equipment.
Performance
Dual Sampling Modes

- Normal mode: higher FPS — great for lunar/planetary
- Low-Noise mode (LRN): lower RN & higher DR — ideal for DSO
At gain 0: ~14.26 stops DR, 71.7 ke- FWC, ~3.96 e- RN. At HCG (gain 125): ~13.58 stops DR, 16.6 ke- FWC, ~1.36 e- RN.

Frame Rate
Up to ~15 FPS in RAW8 (USB 3.0).
