WandererCover V4-EC IR is a professional, lightweight motorised flat-panel cover with infrared remote control, designed for automated imaging setups and convenient field use.

Key difference vs V4-EC: the V4-EC IR adds IR remote control functionality. This allows control via an infrared remote (ideal for field/ASIAIR workflows). For basic operation you only need a single 12V power cable — no USB cable required unless you’re using ASCOM/INDI control.

Highlights
- IR remote control for easy operation in the field
- ASIAIR / StellaVita controllable (via supported DC switch control)
- ASCOM & INDI compatible (USB required when using these control methods)
- Exclusive cable management helps prevent power-cable strain during operation
- Soft cushioning pads help protect your telescope from scratches
- Includes cable ties for universal installation

Precision encoder control
- Built-in micro-encoder provides real-time, accurate feedback on cover position
- Repeat positioning accuracy up to ±0.25°
- Customisable open/close angle — set any position you need

Upgraded motor & cold-weather reliability
- Brand-new motor with 50%+ increased load capacity to improve durability
- Designed for low temperatures; reliable operation down to -20°C (low-temp resistant design noted down to -25°C)
- Tested life expectancy exceeds 3,000 open/close cycles

Built-in dew heating
In humid conditions, dew can form on the flat panel overnight. If not evaporated before closing, moisture can remain inside the telescope and may contribute to long-term damp or mould risk.
- Integrated heating elements help keep the cover dry through the night or evaporate dew in the morning
- Dew heater control supported in N.I.N.A. Advanced Sequencer via the plugin Device Actions and Commands (see user manual)

Automatic detection (with encoder)
Thanks to the encoder, the V4-EC series supports automatic detection of open/closed positions and can detect obstacles during setup.
Note: It is always recommended to set the open and closed angles manually. Use automatic detection only as a last option when the flat-panel angle cannot be observed. It is normal for the motor box to warm during automatic detection. The detected angle can be affected by multiple factors and success is not guaranteed. Avoid repeating attempts if unsuccessful.
Driver & dimming performance
- Updated ASCOM driver supports automatic/manual port selection and up to 6 devices simultaneously
- New dimming controller increases PWM dimming frequency by 100%, reducing banding risk
- 255-level dimming suitable for colour cameras through to narrowband imaging
- At maximum brightness, 3nm narrowband flats can be around ~1 second (setup-dependent)
Compatibility
- Supports control via ZWO ASIAIR Plus, ToupTek StellaVita, and devices that can control a DC switch (see user manual)
- Not compatible with the ASIAIR built into the ZWO Air-series cameras
Models & SKU

Warm reminder (choosing the correct size)
The luminous diameter should be equal to or greater than the outer diameter of your telescope’s dew shield.
Example: If a 100mm telescope has a dew shield outer diameter of 120mm, choose the 125mm model.
