The SC715C OSC Planetary Camera is a high-performance colour astronomy camera built around the advanced Sony IMX715 CMOS sensor. Designed for planetary, lunar, and selected deep-sky imaging, it combines high sensitivity, fast data transfer, and low noise performance in a compact and versatile format.
Featuring a 1/2.8″ sensor with a fine 1.45 μm × 1.45 μm pixel size, the IMX715 delivers up to 8 megapixels of detailed image data. This enables exceptionally fine structure capture while maintaining high dynamic range and low read noise, even in low-light conditions.
Built using STARVIS II technology, the SC715C benefits from advanced sensor architecture and image processing algorithms that significantly improve sensitivity while suppressing background noise. This makes it particularly effective for high-contrast planetary imaging and faint deep-sky targets.
A high-speed USB 3.0 interface enables data transfer rates of up to 45.5 frames per second at full resolution, ideal for planetary lucky imaging. The integrated ST-4 guide port allows direct connection to an equatorial mount for real-time guiding corrections, reducing drift and vibration.
To ensure stable performance during high-speed capture, the SC715C features a 512 MB DDR3 image buffer. This onboard cache reduces dropped frames, improves responsiveness during focusing and framing, and ensures smooth, uninterrupted imaging sessions.
The camera supports a flexible C / CS-mount interface, making it compatible with a wide range of telescopes, lenses, and optical accessories. This allows the SC715C to adapt easily to different imaging setups and observing goals.
