Pegasus NYX-101 High-Payload Harmonic Mount

The Pegasus NYX-101 is a compact, high-payload harmonic drive mount designed for serious visual observers and astrophotographers who want precision tracking, low weight and minimal setup time. With strain-wave gears on both RA and DEC, the NYX-101 delivers smooth, backlash-free operation and can carry up to 20kg without counterweights.

Power & Connectivity

The NYX-101 is designed around a simple, robust power and control system to make integration into modern rigs as easy as possible:

  • 12V DC operation – runs from a standard 12V supply or field battery.
  • Low power consumption – typically under ~0.6A while tracking and up to ~2A during slews (mount only), making it ideal for portable power stations.
  • Reverse polarity protection – internal protection safeguards the mount if the supply is accidentally reversed.
  • ASCOM & INDI support – fully compatible with ASCOM 7, ASCOM Alpaca and INDI frameworks.
  • LX200 & SkySafari compatibility – supports LX200 protocol, allowing control from many PC and mobile planetarium apps.

ASCOM Alpaca Native Support

The NYX-101 includes an integrated web server with native ASCOM Alpaca support. Modern imaging applications (e.g. N.I.N.A.) can discover the mount automatically over the network and connect without traditional driver installation, simplifying remote setups and observatories.

Unity Platform Control

Pegasus’ Unity Platform provides a single, modern interface for configuring and controlling the NYX-101. Via USB or Wi-Fi, you can:

  • Set tracking rates, slewing limits and home position.
  • Switch between Equatorial and Alt-Az modes.
  • Monitor power, sensor data and mount status.
  • Update firmware to access new features and improvements.
