Player One Poseidon-C Pro (IMX571) Cooled Camera — APS-C Deep-Sky Astrophotography
The Player One Poseidon-C Pro is a professional-grade APS-C cooled colour CMOS astrophotography camera built around the
Sony IMX571 sensor. Designed for advanced deep-sky imaging (DSO), it delivers low noise, high dynamic range, non-amp-glow
performance with precise cooling control — ideal for capturing nebulae, galaxies, and faint targets.
Key Features
Sony IMX571 APS-C sensor (26 MP, 3.76 µm pixels, 28.3 mm diagonal)
Native 16-bit ADC (65 536 levels) for superb colour fidelity
Non-Amp-Glow design for ultra-clean dark frames
2-Stage TEC cooling (ΔT > 40 °C)
512 MB DDR3 cache for stable data transfer
STARVIS back-illuminated sensor architecture
Rear 4-point tilt plate for precise alignment
Integrated anti-dew heater & adjustable fan speed
Dual USB Type-C data ports + 12 V DC power input
Design & Build
Player One’s octagonal red-and-black chassis blends elegance with practicality. The rounded front plate minimises diffraction for RASA users,
while the micro-frosted finish gives a professional, reflection-free appearance.
Rear 4-Point Sensor Tilt Plate
The rear 4-point tilt mechanism simplifies corner tuning and reduces field curvature. A high-density sponge light seal prevents side leaks for perfect star shapes across the frame.
Deep Cooling & Anti-Dew System
A two-stage TEC cooler achieves ΔT > 40 °C below ambient. Adjustable controls in ASCOM software let you set target temperature, fan speed and heater power. Recommended setting: ΔT ≈ 35 °C below ambient, fan ≈ 70 %, heater ≈ 10 %.
STARVIS Sensor & 16-bit ADC
The Sony IMX571 STARVIS sensor offers superb quantum efficiency, low noise and a native 16-bit ADC for smooth gradients and realistic colour transitions. The Non-Amp-Glow design keeps dark frames clean even on long exposures.
Connectivity & Power
2 × USB Type-C data ports (main USB 3.0 supports 15 FPS RAW8)
12 V DC input (5.5 × 2.1 mm) for TEC cooling power
Can operate bus-powered as an uncooled camera when TEC is off
