Dwarf Planet Series Mono Guiding Camera
The Player One Xena 585M is a compact mono guide camera built around the Sony IMX585 sensor with STARVIS 2 back-illuminated technology. Designed for precision autoguiding and high-speed capture, it pairs a large 1/1.2" sensor with a true 1.25" form factor for clean, responsive performance in portable rigs.

Sony IMX585 Sensor (STARVIS 2)
Xena 585M adopts the Sony IMX585 monochrome CMOS sensor. STARVIS 2 improves low-light performance, supporting more reliable guide-star acquisition and excellent response in short-exposure imaging.
- Sensor format: 1/1.2"
- Resolution: 8.3MP (3856 × 2180)
- Pixel size: 2.9 µm
- Full well: 47 ke⁻
- Diagonal: 12.85 mm
- Peak QE: approx. 91%

Highlights
- USB 3.0 (5Gbps): high-speed data transfer for responsive guiding and fast capture.
- True 1.25" body: slides directly into standard 1.25" guide scope adapters.
- CS-mount flexibility: compatible with 5–100mm CS lenses for guider/finder use.

Stable High-Speed Capture
With USB 3.0 connectivity, the Xena 585M can reach up to 47 FPS at full resolution in RAW8 (10-bit ADC). Actual recording speed depends on storage performance; a quality SSD is recommended.

HDR Mode (IMX585 Feature)
HDR (High Dynamic Range) mode increases dynamic range and can reduce read noise, supporting improved results in high-contrast scenes (particularly useful for short-exposure DSO imaging and bright-star fields).
DPS – Dead Pixel Suppression
Player One’s DPS technology analyses multiple dark frames to map fixed abnormal pixels. During capture, affected pixels are corrected using surrounding pixel data for cleaner frames.

Connectivity & Guiding
- USB 3.0 data port
- ST-4 guiding support (connect to the mount’s AUTO GUIDE port)

Protection & Build
- Overvoltage and overcurrent protection mechanisms
- Distinctive hexagonal industrial body design
- Model name engraved on the camera housing

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Xena 585M suitable for autoguiding?
Yes. It’s designed for precision autoguiding with a sensitive mono sensor, USB 3.0 connectivity and ST-4 support.
Can I use the Xena 585M for imaging too?
Yes. It works well for high-speed lunar/planetary capture and short-exposure imaging. It is not a cooled long-exposure deep-sky camera.
What sensor does it use?
Sony IMX585 monochrome CMOS with STARVIS 2 back-illuminated technology.
Will it fit my 1.25" guide scope?
Yes. The camera body is a true 1.25" diameter to fit standard guide scope adapters.
Does it support USB 3.0?
Yes. It features an integrated USB 3.0 (5Gbps) data port for fast, reliable transfer.
What read noise can it achieve?
Player One reports read noise as low as approximately 0.7e⁻ at high gain settings based on testing.
